Simulation cloud data export after cancellation: the windows

Updated

A results archive held in a simulation cloud has a clock on it once the subscription ends. Here is the window each vendor on our board writes down, and the two that write none.

Thirty days is the common window

Rescale lets a customer export its data during the agreement and for 30 days afterwards. Luminary Cloud gives 30 days for a SaaS deployment, after which it deletes the data in the ordinary course, and Siemens' Simcenter X page says the customer must be able to reach its data for at least 30 days.

Ansys may delete content, results and trained models within thirty days of a SimAI subscription ending, and SimScale gives sixty days to make backup copies of professional content.

No window at all

2 of 8 vendors promise no export. Onshape puts the export on the customer before cancelling, and Autodesk may delete content without notice.

Describe the simulation archive you hold

7 of the 8 simulation vendors we read leave the results with the customer, and 3 keep some aggregated use. Tell us which tools hold your runs and we will reply about yours.

The simulation work

What does most of the archive come from?

  • A person reads every simulation enquiry
  • No solver vendor on the board is shown what you send
  • No geometry, mesh or results file is asked for here
